For this picture, I found a black and white photo that I liked and put it in photoshop. Next, I traced around each part of the picture that I was going to color a different shade, with the magnetic lasso tool. I then changed each of the spots to colors that I thought fit. I don’t love the way this image turned out, and the background color isn’t my favorite, but I think I did alright for my first time!
This project required our class to find an old fashioned picture and add something modern into it. I found a picture of an airplane on Flickr and cut it out using the magnetic lasso tool. Next, I copied and pasted it into the left hand corner. I changed the color of the plane and several other components of it, attempting to make it look more like the time period that the photo was taken, but I had a tough time doing this. Finally, I settled with the way it looks now, but I am not completely satisfied with it’s color.
This past week in class has been spent on a difficult, time consuming, but very entertaining project called “Photo Text”. In it we used a picture of ourselves and wrote our names over it, in a color that matched our skin color, hair color, lips, or eyes. We used Photoshop and several different fonts, sizes and effects to make our pictures more lifelike. Specifically for my project, I used text sizes 2-8, and several different colors. The main technique I used was one called “text warp”. I used it to create the arches on the neck, chin and top of head, as well as the lips, eyebrows and sides of the nose. For the hair, I used the text warp tool, set to “flag” that made it look more wavy. Finally on the nose and eyes I used the bulge effect. One challenge I faced was with the pen tool, you can see that I used it for a time on the left side of the face, but once I got to the chin it began to make angled lines and became more difficult to use. Also, when I attempted to click and edit one group of words, it would select another. Through this project, I learned a huge amount of new facts and effects on Photoshop which will help me throughout this year and maybe the next few years of high school, if I make it into MAD.
Michel Gondry is a music video director who has directed and won several awards for his very different and unique music videos. He has directed music videos for artist such as Bjork, Daft Punk, The White Stripes, Paul McCartney, Kanye West, The Rolling Stones and many, many more. His videos always make you think a little and are never anything you would expect. We watched some of his videos in class and created a photoshop picture from the video or videos that inspired us. In my picture, I put telephone poles, this was because in the video for the song Star Guitar by Chemical Brothers, there are several telephone poles that appear with each beat of the song. You may also notice that there is a black cat in the corner, this is because in the song Sugar Water by Cibo Matto there is a moment where a black cat runs by so I wanted to add that in as well. The moon and forest are inspiration from the song Human Behavior by Bjork. Finally, the colored dots in the background are from the video for the song Around the World by Daft Punk. Tell me what you think of the over all picture and make sure you check out the videos, you won’t be disappointed!
This song is pretty old, it came out in 2004 but I still love it. It was performed by a group called “311”, they have recorded and released 10 albums to date and is described as “an American rock band” on Wikipedia. This band performed near where I live recently with the group Sublime. Their music is super mellow and calm so if you like this one, make sure to check out their other songs! Like, comment or follow for more of their music and many others!
